Residential - Plume Avenue
Plume Avenue is a specialist community based resource, registered to provide living accommodation and care for up to four clients with a learning disability, who have complex needs aged 18 or older. Our accommodation is a large ‘family styled’ five bedroom house with a good-sized private rear garden with patio and BBQ area.
The house is situated in Prettygate, Shrub End, within a short walking distance of all local shops and amenities, which include: a doctor’s surgery and pharmacy, newsagent, post office, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. There is a regular bus service to Colchester town centre, Clacton and Maldon, and, where appropriate we encourage the use of public transport to enhance personal independence.
Plume Avenue is staffed according to individual needs and is overseen by a Registered Manager who is responsible for the staff team, client’s welfare in general, and the essential standards of quality and safety.
At Plume Avenue...
We are ideally situated for individuals who are looking to achieve greater independence. We offer a safe base to support people who need to acquire the necessary skills to make these steps. Support workers will offer daily help and encouragement. It is a small registered group home, which emphasis’s normal living, experience and social integration and yet still offers 24-hour staff support within the extensive professional framework of Essex Care Consortium Ltd. This organization offers a wealth of specialist knowledge, services and personalized care options and we believe this combination presents a unique opportunity for individuals.
Personalized contracts are offered to clients who are always central to the placement. Client input is required to tailor make the provision and identify what individual needs are to be met. People who live at Plume Avenue make choices and decisions about all aspects of their welfare and what support they need. We recognize that needs are always changing and progression and development will be integral to what we offer and may lead to someone moving on to live in supported living accommodation or independent provision.
Clients participate in the upkeep of the house, help shop and prepare meals. Monthly meetings are held and act as a key mechanism for structuring everyday routines, making decisions about the home, activities and holidays..
We believe individuals who live at Plume Avenue do have a big say in whom else lives with them and who the staff is that will support them. We actively encourage residents to become involved in taking part in staff interviews and the decision process about who is employed.
When we have a room vacancy the existing clients will meet with the new client and their family. The new person will be invited for a meal and a series of overnight stays. During the next monthly meeting clients will give feedback regarding how they think the new person may or may not fit into their home.
